I proudly own many items painted by Karen Wolfe. My Christmas ornament with a chickadee on it is one of my most prized possessions. Karen’s ability to capture the essence of nature in her handiwork is phenomenal. I have slates as well as other gift items that Karen has lovingly painted. My sister, who lives in Georgia, cannot find unique hand painted items like the ones that Karen creates so she recently bought a number of hand painted slates to give all of her friends a true West Virginia artisan’s hand painted Christmas gift. God has given Karen a very special talent and I’m so thankful that He did. In September 2011 I contacted Karen inquiring as to her willingness to do a pet portrait as a Christmas gift for my husband of two beloved family pets we had that through the years had crossed over to the Rainbow Bridge. She assured me that she would love to do a painting for me and that she would keep me updated as the painting progressed. Her challenge was to pose the pets together as we did not have them at the same time and, of course, did not have any photos of them together. And what a wonderful job she did! After asking a few questions she got the sizing and facial/eye expressions just right. The painting turned out beautiful. She sent me digital photos as the painting progressed and when I opened the final one tears immediately came to my eyes as she had captured their personalities perfectly and had brought them back to life in her painting. I can hardly wait until Christmas to give it to my husband!

Karen Wolfe has done slate art work for me. I have given this artwork to friends and family for gifts. Those receiving the artwork of the friends and family raved about the quality and authenticity of each piece done by Karen. I gave Karen a photo of two Pomeranian dogs to be painted for a Christmas gift for a friend and the paintings depicted them so lifelike of the actual dogs, the recipient of the slate cried and was totally amazed as was everyone else who have seen the painting. Karen painted four slates for me for my 50 class reunion and they were the best received of the door prizes we gave away at our party. I would recommend Karen to paint anything for me at any time. I would be most proud to display her work in my home or give to anyone as a gift.

I have ordered several slates and a Christmas ornament from Karen and they were all absolutely gorgeous. I gave two slates as gifts and the people loved them. They were gifts I was excited about giving. The Christmas ornament has a picture of the New River Gorge Bridge and it is stunning. You definitely can’t buy in stores the types of items that Karen creates. I love her work!
